Arrive at Kathmandu International Airport (KTM). Then our representative pick you up and take you to the hotel and take a rest.
Kathmandu has a special atmosphere during the early morning hours when the city is slowly coming to life yet not too chaotic. It's a great time to walk and explore the streets or have a chai overlooking one of the local courtyards or durbar squares. There are a number of ways you can spend the day given the many incredible sights around the Kathmandu Valley. Later in the evening, head out for dinner at one of the city's great eateries, or your specialist can arrange a home-cooked dinner with a local family.
We will have flight from Kathmandu to Lukla takes 45 minutes and is an adventure in itself with great views of the Everest region and ending with a hair-raising landing on a steep mountain runway. After meeting our crew, we will start our trek by heading up the Dudh Koshi Valley on a well- marked trail to Phakding.
After breakfast, we will start trekking. We cross and re-cross the river on high suspension bridges. Beyond Monjo is the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park. We then ascend steeply to Namche and along the way, if the weather permits, catch the first glimpse of Mt Everest. Namche Bazaar is the main trading village in Khumbu and has a busy Saturday market. You can enjoy an Illy coffee and amazing brownies here!
Rest day in Namche, hike to Everest View Hotel, visit Khumjung Village Hillary School Sagarmatha National Park. Namche is located between two ridges and has lots of lodges, tea shops and souvenir shops. Today we will trek up to the Everest View Hotel at 3880m for our first view of Ama Dablam and Mount Everest. Following the ‘walk high, sleep low’ principle, this hike will really help with your acclimatisation.
We will walk along the valley from Namche with stunning views of Everest framed by the striking valley around us. After that, we will trek on riverside and have steep up trek to Tengboche. Arrive in Tengboche we will get rest and stay overnight at the teahouse.
We will have A gradual gradient up to Dingboche. The path continues along the side of the valley with the river far below on your right and passing beneath the spectacular view of Ama Dablam. The village sits on the confluence of two valleys and has spectacular views. From here you have views of Island Peak up the Chukkung Valley.
Today is a for a relatively short trek. We follow the valley up to the village of Chukkung and overnight in lodge.
Chukkung (rest and acclimatise). Depending on how people feel we have a number of options to aid acclimatisation. Chukkung Ri is a 4 - 5 hour climb and offers stunning views back down the valley and of Imja Tse (Island Peak), Ama Dablam, Makalu, and Nuptse.
Today we will trek to Island Peak Base Camp, cross the river and follows the valley for 3 hours, pass the south face of Lhotse. Base Camp is by the side of the Imja glacier, below steep grassy slopes. Here is the start point to climb Island Peak.
Today we will be guided and having training for summit program tomorrow.
We will climb to the glacier. We will rope-up and put on our crampons to cross the glacier. This is followed by the steep snow slope that leads onto the summit ridge. We will have stunning close-up views of the south face of Lhotse over us and the other side, there are wonderful mountain views. After that we descend on the same route, and down to Base Camp and continue trekking to Chukhung. Arrive in Chukhung, overnight at the teahouse.
We now descend back to the main Everest trail through Pangboche before climbing to the monastery at Tengboche. Arrive in Tengboche, we will overnight at teahouse.
Today we will trek down and back to Namche. On our back side, sometime we can see the Everest view when we get break on the trail. Arrive in Namche, we can enjoy a glass of tea and overnight at the teahouse.
We cross the Dudh Koshi. We will trek back along familiar paths to Phakding where we will stay the night. Our final day's trekking follows the Dudh Koshi back down to Lukla. This last evening in the mountains is the ideal opportunity for a farewell party with the Sherpa guides and porters, where you can look back on a memorable trekking experience.
Early morning, after breakfast go to Lukla Airport and fly to Kathmandu. Arrive in Kathmandu, we will have Nepalese Culture Dinner.
